Frequently asked questions
Straight answers about LUMA, the tag, receipts, billing, and what we can and can't promise.
Getting started
What is Lumon8, and what does LUMA do?
Lumon8 shows dealers whether AI assistants recommend them when shoppers ask — and fixes what's holding them back. LUMA is Lumon8's AI visibility agent: it watches what six AI engines say about your store, catches the facts they get wrong, deploys verified updates automatically, and drafts the rest for your one-click approval. You get the outcomes and the receipts; LUMA does the legwork.
What does the free plan include?
The free AI Visibility Audit: your AI Visibility Score across all six engines, verbatim receipts of what each one said, your Site Readiness diagnostic, and the Lumon8 tag with AI-traffic tracking. Paid plans add ongoing monitoring, more markets, LUMA's corrections and alerts, and the weekly report. See Pricing.
What is the Lumon8 tag, and is it safe to install?
One script, installed once, that does three jobs: it publishes your structured data (the machine-readable facts AI engines read), tracks visitors who arrive from AI assistants, and records AI-crawler visits. It loads asynchronously so it never blocks your pages, sets no cookies, and collects no visitor names, emails, or IP addresses. Google Tag Manager works fine. Your website provider can add it in minutes — the install guide has a summary written for them, and our Privacy Policy and DPA cover the details.
How do I know the tag is live?
The tag light on your dashboard turns green the first time a real visitor loads a page with the tag on it — that heartbeat is the proof, not the paste. Until then it shows as not yet verified, so a tag that was pasted but never actually served can't fool anyone. Check the light on AI Traffic.
How it works
Which AI engines do you monitor?
Six: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Grok, and Google AI. Every plan covers all six — plans differ on how often we check, how many markets we track, and how many rooftops you can manage.
What's the difference between the AI Visibility Score and Site Readiness?
The AI Visibility Score is the headline: how often the AI engines actually name you when shoppers in your market ask. Site Readiness is the fix diagnostic: whether your website gives AI systems the facts they need, and what to change if not. You can have a healthy site and a weak score (nobody is telling AI about you yet) or the reverse — which is why we show both.
What are receipts?
Every claim in Lumon8 comes with the evidence. When we say an engine named you — or named a rival instead — you can open the receipt: the engine's exact words, timestamped, tagged with the market we asked about. No summaries you have to take on faith. Rivals we show you are verified real businesses near you, never a name the AI made up.
How do one-click approvals work, and why don't I need to log in?
When LUMA finds a fact AI has wrong about you — hours, phone, address, brands — and it can be verified independently, LUMA deploys the correction automatically. Anything that needs your judgment arrives by email with an Approve button. Tap it and the fix ships; no login, no dashboard hunt, so it works from your phone between customers. If you don't get to it, LUMA sends a reminder on day 3 by email, day 5 by text if you've opted in, and a last note on day 7 — then leaves you alone.
What are steal alerts, and will they be noisy?
A steal alert means an AI engine used to name you for a question in your market and now names a rival instead. LUMA only raises one when the change is confirmed across consecutive checks — a single odd answer is never an alert, because AI answers vary from run to run. When you get one, it's real, and it comes with the receipt.
What is "AI's read on you"?
It's what an AI assistant says when a shopper asks "{your dealership} reviews" — the reputation summary buyers actually hear. Lumon8 shows you that read, in the engine's own words, and LUMA turns your real customer reviews into readable content on your site so AI has your best true stories to draw from. We never mark up review ratings as structured data about your own business — Google's guidelines don't allow it, and we won't put your site at risk for a shortcut.
Where do the "shoppers a month ask AI" numbers come from?
From an independent index of AI conversations, which lets us estimate how many shoppers in your area ask AI assistants about dealers like yours each month. Those numbers are always labeled as estimates from that index and are shown separately from our live checks — the live checks are what we actually asked and what the engines actually said today.
Why is my Site Readiness "not scored"?
Because we couldn't measure it honestly. Some dealer websites sit behind a bot wall that blocks automated visitors — including AI crawlers and our checker. When that happens we say "not scored" rather than invent a number, and we hand you a ready-to-send vendor ticket asking your website provider to allow legitimate AI crawlers. Unmeasurable is not the same as zero, and we won't pretend otherwise.
Results and honesty
How long until I see results?
You see where you stand the day you run your first audit. Fixes start showing up in AI answers over the following weeks, because the engines re-crawl and re-think on their own schedules — that's why we watch continuously and show you the trend, with receipts, instead of asking you to guess.
Do you guarantee first-place AI rankings?
No, and be skeptical of anyone who does. The AI engines are third-party systems that change constantly, and the same question can get a different answer an hour later. What we promise is honest measurement: what the engines really say about you, what's holding you back, fixes that ship, and proof of the AI-referred traffic that reaches your site.
For agencies
I'm an agency — what does white-label mean here?
Your clients see your brand: your name, logo, and colors on the portal, the reports, and the emails — including the one-click approval emails and reminders — so everything is safe to forward. Lumon8 never appears in anything client-facing. You manage every rooftop from one login and invite teammates from the Team page.
What are Conquest Audits?
Branded prospect reports for dealers you don't work with yet. Run an audit on a prospect, and you get a shareable, your-brand report of what AI says about them today — the pitch writes itself. Agencies start with 10 free credits, then buy packs at $1 per credit. The report goes out under your brand and replies land in your inbox — their lead stays yours.
Data, privacy, and billing
Who owns the data?
You do. Your business data, reports, and traffic data belong to you, and agencies can share them with clients under their own brand. We never sell data, and the tag data from your website is processed only to produce your reporting — see the DPA.
How does billing work? Can I cancel anytime?
Subscriptions are monthly or annual (annual saves 20%), billed through Stripe — we never see your card number. Cancel anytime from Pricing → Manage billing; you keep access through the end of the period you paid for. No cancellation calls, no retention maze.
